The Demise of the Republican Party

My extensive experiences with both major political parties led me to conclude decades ago that neither political party is responsive to the needs of the working poor, especially Latinos, and that the parties’ objectives are attaining and maintaining power. This is why I am registered as “No Party Preference.”
During the Reagan years, I witnessed the virtual extinction of the middle class due to “trickle down” policies and the changing values of Reaganomics. I saw the demise of the Republican Party in California and the United States as a whole, amongst minorities and middle-class whites who lost their identity.
Over the last 20 years, Republican leaders have helped open the door for Trump to express what House Speaker Paul Ryan described as the “textbook definition of a racist comment”. Others have denounced Trump’s racist behavior, crudeness, personal invectives. But only a few have withdrawn their support. The vast majority of parry leaders are willing to stand by Trump because they oppose Hilary Clinton.
In politics, you reap what you sow. The Republican brand is being deserted from all corners.
It’s true that Democrats can say they are better than Republicans. But that’s only because Republicans are so bad.
