Latinos and the 2016 Presidential Race

These facts make the Latino vote one of the key factors to win the 2016 presidential race:

  • 23,632,000 Latinos were eligible to vote in the 2012 elections.

  • Every 30 seconds, a Latino turns 18 and becomes eligible to vote.

  • By the 2016 presidential election, the eligible Latino electorate will reach 28.5 million.

  • In the 2014 elections Hispanics made up 8% of the nation’s voters, the same as in 2010 and 2006, according to national exit polls.

  • 40.1% of voters in New Mexico are Hispanic. Follow by 27.4% in Texas, 26.9% in California, 20.3%in Arizona, and 17.1% in Florida.

  • 24% of Floridians are Hispanic, up from 17% in 2000. Overall, 1.7 million Hispanics were registered to vote in Florida as of October 2014, according to the state’s Division of Elections.

  • The Hispanic population is expected to grow 7 million each year in the U.S.

  • The total U.S. population is projected to be 17 percent Hispanic in 2014 and 29 percent Hispanic in 2060.

  • One in each four born in the U.S. will be Latino by 2060.

  • The amount of foreign-born Latinos in the U.S. will decrease annually.
